The Tree of Life

Burj Al Khazzan, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

What if a water tower could become a symbol of renewal?

Started around an informal conversation between a potential Saudi-based client and our founder Sébastien Jouan, a visionary idea sparked: transforming the 61-metre-tall Burj Al Khazzan into a new landmark for Al-Watan Park, in the historic heart of Riyadh, combining sound art, lighting design and architecture.

A creative team was then formed around architect ALEXANDRE STELLA and artist Ryuta Amaé from Stella Amaé and Jean-Marie Priol, then Creative Director at BOA Light Studio and Studio Jouan providing concept for sound art installations on the theme of water.
The result: The Tree of Life, a new icon for Riyadh’s city centre.

More than an architectural gesture, it’s a social space for gathering, reflection, and cultural exchange, in a district already rich with institutions.
Key innovation: ultra-high-performance fibre concrete, a French engineering material ensuring both durability and elegance.

Studio Jouan developed concepts for sound art installations and acoustic design for the modern art museum at the tower’s summit.
