Driven by a new ambition, l’Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) (Arab World Institute) embarked in 2025 on a complete overhaul of its collections and museum spaces. The New IMA Museum, enriched with modern and contemporary artworks, aims to assert its relevance in the present time and address the contemporary issues of the Arab world.
The project involves the redesign of the permanent exhibitions, spread across levels R+4 to R+7 of the Institute. Certain areas of the exhibitions require particularly careful acoustic treatment, such as the space dedicated to Arab tales or the one showcasing the collection of musical instruments, which will feature a multichannel sound system offering visitors a unique immersive experience.
Winner of the competition alongside exhibition designers Projectiles, Studio Jouan is responsible for the acoustic design.
