Broadway Lyric Theater

New York, USA

Located in the heart of Times Square, The Lyric Theater is one of the most recognizable Broadway Theatres. The Lyric Theatre was until recently home to the multi-award winning show, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Studio Jouan was appointed by New 42nd Street, who manages the theatre for New York City, to provide acoustic consultancy services on the room acoustic conditions of its historical auditorium.

Working alongside Production Management Specialist David M Jensen, Studio Jouan evaluated the acoustic implications of two potential renovation scenarios: a return to the theatre’s historic configuration with approximately 2,000 seats, or retention of the 2017 auditorium configuration with a capacity of approximately 1,500.

The study provided acoustic input to support early budget and renovation decisions for one of Broadway’s best-known theatres.
